Senior CAM Engineer

Join CADCAMSYS as a CAM Engineer and work on CAD/CAM solutions for CNC manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication. You will work closely with CAM algorithms, CNC programming, nesting, cutting technologies, machine configurations, and post-processors used in real-world manufacturing environments.

The role involves understanding manufacturing processes and translating them into reliable software solutions for laser, plasma, oxy-fuel, waterjet, punching, router, tube, and advanced multi-axis cutting applications.

Responsibilities

Develop and improve CAM functionality for CNC cutting and manufacturing applications.
Develop or improve geometry-processing and feature-recognition functionality.
Work on automatic recognition of holes, contours, slots, and other manufacturing features.
Implement cutting technologies such as lead-ins, lead-outs, micro-joints, common-line cutting, piercing strategies, and cutting sequences.
Work on plasma-specific technologies such as hole cutting, piercing, and bevel cutting.
Work on tube and profile cutting workflows including 3D geometry and multi-axis toolpaths.
Support 3D and 5-axis cutting applications and machine kinematics.
Analyze customer machine requirements and support post-processor development.
Investigate and resolve CAM programming and CNC output issues.
Validate generated NC programs through simulation, testing, and machine trials where required.
Collaborate with software developers, QA engineers, application engineers, and customers.
Analyze customer requirements and convert manufacturing problems into software features.
Optimize existing CAM algorithms for performance, reliability, and manufacturing quality.
Document CAM functionality, machine configurations, and technical requirements.
Support implementation and customization of CAM solutions for customers.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in CAM, CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, or manufacturing software.
Good understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
Practical knowledge of CNC cutting technologies such as laser, plasma, oxy-fuel, waterjet, punching, or routing.
Understanding of CNC programs, G-codes, M-codes, machine commands, and NC file structures.
Experience with CNC machine controllers and machine-specific programming requirements.
Understanding of toolpaths, cutting sequences, machining strategies, and manufacturing parameters.
Experience working with CAD geometry and formats such as DXF, DWG, STEP, or IGES.
Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Ability to analyze customer machine requirements and technical documentation.
Ability to understand and analyze sample NC/CNC programs.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work with software development teams on CAM-related functionality.
Good communication skills and ability to understand technical requirements from customers.

Nice to have

Experience with ALMACAM, AlmaCAM, AlmaCAD, or other professional CAD/CAM software.
Experience developing or customizing CNC post-processors.
Experience with CNC profile/Plate cutting machines
Experience with C++, C#, Python, or similar programming languages.
Experience working with CAD kernels or geometry-processing libraries.
Experience with ERP, MES, or manufacturing software integration.
Experience working directly with CNC machine manufacturers or fabrication companies.
